The quarter-final second legs are due to be played on April 14/15, but Liverpool contacted Uefa last month requesting that their fixture be staged on Apr 14 so as to avoid playing 24 hours later – the hugely emotive 20th anniversary of the day when 96 of the club's supporters died while attending the 1989 FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough.[LNB]Uefa's immediate response was to warn Liverpool that they could not guarantee to grant their request and no decision is expected to be made until after the draw on Friday.[LNB] Related ArticlesBenitez is 'cracking up'[LNB]Stunning Liverpool run riot[LNB]How Liverpool beat United[LNB]Gerrard hopeful United can now be caught[LNB]Uefa's Champions League pledge to Liverpool over Hillsborough anniversary[LNB]Fernando Torres strikes in Liverpool return[LNB]Gerrard, who lost a cousin at Hillsborough, said: "We hope that Uefa show some common sense. You would think they would accept the significance of the date for the people of Liverpool, but unfortunately feelings like that don't always come into it.[LNB]"We're still waiting to see whether Uefa will make us play on the day. That would be far from ideal given all the emotion that always surrounds the club on that day. It should be a time that Liverpool Football Club remembers the people who were lost and their families.[LNB]"Hillsborough is always on my mind because I lost a member of my family there and any success we get as a club this year will be dedicated to those people who lost their lives.
