Steven Gerrard 60[LNB]STEVEN GERRARD today insisted Liverpool will go the distance in the race to claim a Champions League spot after showing they have the appetite for a fight.[LNB]The Reds slipped three points behind Tottenham last night after they drew 0-0 with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux and Harry Redknapp's men beat Fulham 2-0. It was a performance short on attacking quality and Rafa Benitez saw his side come in for criticism after they failed to create any clear chances.[LNB]Gerrard, though, was far from downhearted as he reflected on the performance and believes Liverpool showed a side to their play that many felt was sorely lacking.[LNB]That's why he believes Liverpool will still be major players in the race for fourth place and says the attitude in the dressing room could prove to be decisive.[LNB]'We believe we've turned the corner,' Gerrard said. 'We've got two home games coming up and if we can take maximum points, we'll be closer to where we want to be.[LNB]'There are a lot of people in the dressing room who are hurt at seeing us lying in seventh and eighth position and you learn a lot from these situations when times are hard.[LNB]'We have looked at each other and we want to put it right. The most important thing for me over the last four games has been the character and the desire the players have shown.[LNB]'As captain, that gives me major confidence as you know the good performances are around the corner if the solid base is there. Nobody is hiding and that's a big positive[LNB]'Four or five weeks ago, the game at Stoke and the one here - real battles - we may have lost 1-0 but instead we have come close to nicking it.'
