Spearing remains optimistic
Jay Spearing is still hopeful that Liverpool can qualify for European football next season. Despite the disappointment of Saturday's defeat at West Brom, the midfielder believes the Reds can still beat Tottenham for fifth place in the Premier League. "We will never give up the fight for Europe and there are still plenty of points to play for," he said. "With Tottenham only drawing it was a great opportunity to close the gap but it was a massive disappointment for ourselves. "We need a big response against Manchester City. We know we are good enough to beat them and we will be giving it everything we have got to make that happen."
