Spanish interest flatters Masch
23 Jun 2009 - 10:07:58
Liverpool's Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano has admitted to being flattered by rumoured interest in him from both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Reds insist that the 25-year-old is not for sale, but Mascherano is clearly tempted by the chance of joining one of the Spanish giants.
He told Don Balon: "I am very proud and thankful for the interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid. It's good for me to have these two teams interested in me.
"Both teams are very important, but at this moment I think that Barcelona is a little bit better and that's why they've won all that they have."
Meanwhile, Gabriel Heinze could be moving in the opposite direction, with the former Manchester United defender possibly on his way out of Real Madrid and on his way to Anfield.
The 31-year-old Argentina defender stated: "I would not mind playing Premier League football again.
"I am aware that several clubs are interested, but I must speak with Real Madrid first.
"I have no idea of where I am going to end up and I am yet to think about my future."
