Souness wants Kenny to stay

Former Liverpool captain Graeme Souness has urged club owner John Henry to make permanent Kenny Dalglish's temporary appointment as Reds boss. Sunday's comprehensive 3-1 victory over Manchester United has convinced Souness his fellow Scot is the man for the job. Dalglish was asked by Henry to take charge until the end of the season after Roy Hodgson was sacked in January. "They've put a marker down today," said Souness, who took over as manager at Anfield when Dalglish quit his first spell in charge just over 20 years ago. "It was a resounding result and they should give him the contract to sign today. Why wait?" Souness felt the result, Liverpool's third win in succession over their arch-rivals at Anfield, was a significant moment. "It was an all-round great day. From the first minute they opened up and got after Manchester United," he told Sky Sports. "They kept them on the back foot for the majority of the match. It says they are back."
