Martin Skrtel is proud of Slovakia's World Cup campaign. Although Slovakia bowed out of the tournament with a 2-1 defeat to Holland at the last sixteen stage last night, Skrtel says his countrymen can be proud of their record at their first ever World Cup, a record that included a defeat of holders Italy in the group stage. "It is over for us. The World Cup is over. It's a pity since we really had a chance to beat Holland," said the Reds defender. "We are very sad now. But let's hold our heads high because I am really proud what we have achieved. "We have showed the whole world that they need to look at us and I am really proud of these my teammates. "I am proud to be Slovak, I am proud to be a member of this team. Let's enjoy this beautiful success."
