Martin Skrtel hopes to be fit to face Galatasasry next week. The defender picked up a calf injury upon returning to Melwood for pre-season training and was forced to sit out the club's trip to the Far East. However, he has responded well to treatment and hopes to be available for Thursday's game in Istanbul. "I picked up a calf injury in training just before we were due to travel to Asia, so unfortunately I had to miss the tour," Skrtel told the club's official website. "I had a scan and it was thought I would be out of action for two to three weeks, but I have been working hard and am feeling much better now. "I am now looking to return to training on Sunday or Monday, and hopefully I will be available for the Galatasaray game. "That's the target for me and the physios, so hopefully I can be back for this game."
