Sissoko ready for derby

Midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has given Liverpool a boost by returning to training ahead of the Merseyside derby.

The Mali international suffered a knee injury during the Reds' 1-1 Champions League draw against Maccabi Haifa last month and was a major doubt for the short trip to Everton.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez now expects to be able to name Sissoko in his starting line-up, but still has doubts about ankle-injury victims Jamie Carragher and John Arne Riise.

"Momo is fit and has been training normally at Melwood," said Benitez.

"It's more difficult to tell with John or Carra and we won't know until Thursday if they have a chance."
