Roy pleased with win

Roy Hodgson was glad to get his first league win under his belt. Yesterday's 1-0 win over West Brom at Anfield was the Reds' first league win under the new boss. Hodgson was glad to take the three points from a hard fought game. "It was hard fought, especially in the first-half because we weren't firing on all cylinders and they were playing very well," he said. "They caused us problems. But I thought we had a much better second half and got the points thanks to a world class strike. It was an excellent piece of play. It started with Pepe's throw. Then there was the build-up down the left with Dirk Kuyt, who played it into Fernando for him to finish it with the volley. "It was a good goal to win the game. I thought we could have had a second because Steven Gerrard produced a piece of magic for Fernando at the far post, but Carson was equal to that. "All in all, it was a very good three points against a good Barclays Premier League team in West Bromwich Albion."
