Roy Hodgson likely to lead Liverpool FC against Manchester United

ROY HODGSON looks set to remain in charge for Liverpool's FA Cup third round trip to Manchester United on Sunday - despite intense speculation about his future.[LNB]Club officials have dismissed rumours that the under-fire manager has been sacked and insisted he would hold his weekly press conference at Melwood as planned at 1.30pm today.[LNB]Hodgson, who is on the brink after Wednesday night's miserable 3-1 defeat at Blackburn, remains in limbo with Liverpool's American owners refusing to either back him or sack him.[LNB]Fenway Sports Group have opted not to make any public comment so far on the manager's future.[LNB] The 63-year-old arrived at the club's training ground as normal yesterday morning to be greeted with the sight of 'Hodgson Out' daubed in white paint on the walls. He remained at Melwood for four hours.[LNB]Hodgson is under intense pressure after supporters once again chanted for his dismissal at Ewood Park. It was Liverpool's third defeat in their last four league games and left them 12th in the Premier League, only four points above the relegation zone.[LNB]An online petition calling for Hodgson to be sacked has so far attracted over 20,000 signatures.[LNB]The owners had hoped to wait until the end of the season before making a decision but they could now make a temporary appointment with fans clamouring for Kenny Dalglish to be handed the job.
