Roy Hodgson: Give me time to get it right at Liverpool FC

Roy Hodgson and Steven Gerrard 300[LNB]ROY HODGSON has urged Liverpool's new owners to give him the time to prove he can work hand-in-hand with them to lead the club into a glorious era.[LNB]The most momentous week in Liverpool's history reached the conclusion supporters had been hoping for yesterday afternoon when the £300m deal to sell to New England Sports Ventures was completed, consigning Tom Hicks and George Gillett to the history books. Attention now turns to tomorrow's Merseyside derby and Hodgson desperately needs a good result to ease the pressure that has been building on his position since Liverpool tumbled into the Premier League's bottom three two weeks ago.[LNB]John W Henry has made no bold statements about what his plans are for the future and has indicated that he will not be at Goodison Park to see Liverpool in action as he wants his 'first experience to be with our fans'.[LNB]That, inevitably, means the focus will be on Hodgson but he insists he is the right man to take Liverpool forward and has absolute faith he can mastermind a turnaround in the club's on-field fortunes.[LNB] 'My appointment here was not taken lightly,' said Hodgson. 'Everyone knew it was going to be a difficult. I signed for three years. I have started off trying to do the job and building as best I can.[LNB]'It's a sad day for everything if after a bad start of six or seven games people think the solution is to find someone else with a magic wand. We all know a magic wand solution doesn't exist.[LNB]'I would be very disappointed if after such a short time - and having been given such a short time - to do the job people decided they wanted to get someone else in.[LNB]'I don't seriously believe that's the problem at the moment. It's more complicated. I know I can turn the situation around. But I will have to be given support and the patience to do it.'
