Ronaldinho to Liverpool? Anfield midfielder Lucas keeping fingers crossed rumours are true

Liverpool midfielder Lucas is praying that reports linking Ronaldinho to Anfield are more than just scurrilous rumours. [LNB]One of Italy's many websites which deal in a constant stream of transfer speculation claimed on Monday that the infuriatingly inconsistent AC Milan playmaker could be on his way to Merseyside in January. [LNB]While 30-year-old Ronaldinho is currently stuck in the shadow of a resurgent Robinho at AC Milan, his next move is tipped to be to the MLS or back home to Brazil. [LNB] Speculation: Ronaldinho (left) has been linked with a move to Liverpool[LNB]But Lucas told the Brazilian Globoesporte website: 'I'm not aware of anything regarding a possible signing of Ronaldinho, but of course I'd be very happy if it were to happen. [LNB]'We became friends during the time we shared at the (2008) Olympics and with the national team. It would be great to play with him at Liverpool. [LNB]'Everyone knows Ronaldinho's quality and what he can do. Without doubt it would be a great boost for us.' [LNB]Not everyone shares such a high opinion of Ronaldinho. Once a winner of the Ballon d'Or, he has just been nominated for the rather less prestigious Bidone d'Oro. [LNB]The award - which translates as the Golden Dustbin - is handed out each year to the most disappointing player in Serie A. [LNB]Meanwhile, Lucas is the subject of interest himself, with Santos hoping to tempt the 23-year-old back to Brazil, Inter Milan boss Rafa Benitez keeping his eye on the situation, and both Sevilla and West Ham mulling moves. [LNB]But the former Gremio player's form at Anfield has brought and wave of praise and he seems in no rush to quit Roy Hodgson's side. [LNB]'I'm pleased to have my work recognised in this way at Liverpool,' he said. 'It shows that I have put in some good performances for the club.[LNB] 'I'd already been voted young player of the year by fans last season. Receiving a positive response for what I do on the pitch is always rewarding. [LNB]'I'll dedicated myself to keeping things that way for Liverpool and Brazil, where things are also going well for me.'[LNB] American writer hits out at Liverpool fans in mourning for Hillsborough 'riot'Halfway there!
