Rodgers in no Rush to sign new Liverpool deal

Brendan Rodgers is yet to sign a new contract for Liverpool Football Club, with his current contract running out in June 2015. Liverpool’s managing director, Ian Ayre, is adamant the club are in no hurry for Rodgers to sign a new contract but at the same time they surely must want this “distraction”, as Ayre put it, to be out of the way as soon as possible.

Rodgers is attempting to guide his team to their first League title since 1990, and this is definitely achievable as they are at the top of the league with only six matches to go. Acquiring the title will definitely take priority over a new contract and Rodgers himself has said that he is happy to wait until the end of the season before agreeing a new deal with The Reds. Also this will be beneficial to both parties as by that time they would have either won or lost the title and would be able to take stock of achievements they are likely to make in the future or not.

Ayre is also in agreement with waiting until the summer for Rodgers to make a decision on his future:

"It's never been an issue. We will have our own dialogue at the appropriate time, we will have that discussion. Right now isn't the time," he explained.

Ayre does however believe that Rodgers will commit to Liverpool long-term and attempt to get them back to the lofty heights of the 70s and 80s.
