Reina ponders return home

Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina has been linked with a move back to Spain to join Primera Liga title hopefuls Valencia.

The 24-year-old Spain international joined the Reds in the summer of 2005 from Villarreal and has been a first-team regular ever since.

However, recent reports have suggested that he might be open to a return to his homeland, with Reina having written off his side's Premiership chances this season.

Reina told AS: "The interest of Valencia is flattering to me.

"However, at this moment I want to be focused on helping Liverpool return to our best form, which is most important.

"We'll see what happens in the future."

Former Barcelona gloveman Reina has made 71 appearances for Liverpool since his £6million arrival.

Further reports from Spain have suggested that Valencia are also interested in Juventus' Italy number one Gianluigi Buffon.
