Reina: Reds played on empty
Liverpool gave their all against Athletico Madrid says Pepe Reina. The Reds were knocked out of the Europa League on the away goals rule thanks to Diego Forlan's extra-time strike. Although it was a huge disappointment to lose, Reina insists the players gave their all for 120 minutes. "I'm disappointed because we were almost there. Not many things were said in the dressing room afterwards," said the keeper. "The team is proud of the effort and the mentality. We tried everything but couldn't do it. We went 2-0 up but after that we defended too deep - that allowed Atletico to push for their goal. "You've also got to give credit to Atletico Madrid because they're a good team - so congratulations to them. "There wasn't anything left in the tank at the end. That's all we could ask of ourselves - to empty the tank. We did that during the 120 minutes."
