The Reds were planning to open a replacement for Anfield in neighbouring Stanley Park in 2010. But the reported £490million project has been put on hold by Liverpool owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks. Reds managing director Christian Purslow admits the club will not venture into the major credit investment until the conclusion of the current recession. "Construction will begin when the global financial markets re-establish their equilibrium," he said in The Sun.
