Ajax have revealed that Ryan Babel has signed a five-year contract with Liverpool after the clubs agreed an £11.5million fee.
The 21-year-old forward had been linked with both the Reds and Arsenal after starring for the Netherlands as they retained the recent European Under-21 championship on home soil.
Babel formed a dynamic partnership with Maceo Rigters - who has already moved to England to join Blackburn Rovers - and was named man of the match after scoring in the 4-1 final victory over Serbia.
"The striker, who had a contract until 2010, will sign a five-year deal with the Champions League finalists," Ajax claimed on their website.
Earlier in the week, the Dutch club admitted they were resigned to losing one of their brightest young talents.
Ajax technical director Martin van Geel said: "Liverpool are very serious about signing Babel and have made an offer a lot higher than before.
"Because they want him so much, I think we will lose him."
