Liverpool have confirmed the capture of Argentina defender Emiliano Insua on an 18-month loan deal from Boca Juniors.
The 17-year-old left-back has represented Argentina at Under-20 level as has been picked in the 20-man squad for this year's South American Youth Championship in Paraguay.
Insua will remain at Anfield until summer 2008 when the Reds will have the option to make the move permanent for a transfer fee believed to be in the £1million region.
"He is a good, young player with a lot of potential," manager Rafael Benitez told the club's official website.
Meanwhile, under-fire goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has blamed a lack of first-team football for his much-criticised performances in the Reds' FA and Carling Cup exits at the hands of Arsenal in the last few days.
"If you play one game every two months, it is really, really difficult to show your quality," said the veteran goalkeeper, who is out of contract in the summer and looks to be heading out of Anfield.
"As a goalkeeper, you can use experience but you can't build confidence in training."
