Liverpool have agreed to sign goalkeeper Nikolaj Mihajlov, according to Bulgarian side Levski Sofia.
The Bulgaria Under-21 international shot-stopper has passed a medical and will join the Reds for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a three-year contract.
The 19-year-old, who has been capped at full international level, is the son of Bulgarian Football Union chairman Borislav Mihaylov.
"I have no words," Mihaylov told sportal.bg. "This is the greatest moment of my life."
Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed the appointment of Piet Hamberg as their new academy technical manager.
The former Ajax player will join the Reds backroom staff from Grasshoppers of Zurich where he has overseen youth development.
"Following the departure of Steve Heighway, we took the opportunity to review the academy structure and decided to separate the very distinct roles," chief executive Rick Parry told the club's official website.
"Piet will come in with the specific brief to head up the coaching and development side, while Malcolm (Elias) will be in charge of all recruitment.
"But continuity is also very important, which is why we are taking full advantage of John's (Owens) many years of experience within the youth system by promoting him to academy manager."
