Reds quartet miss Rabotnicki clash

28 Jul 2010 - 13:14:53

Liverpool's England World Cup quartet will play no part in Thursday's Europa League third qualifying round clash against FK Rabotnicki.

Captain Steven Gerrard and fellow England internationals Jamie Carragher, Glen Johnson and Joe Cole all stayed behind on Merseyside when the rest of the squad flew out to Macedonia on Tuesday.

In a much-changed first squad named by new manager Roy Hodgson, there are a number of youngsters alongside two more summer signings.

Serbia forward Milan Jovanovic and former Rangers defender Danny Wilson were both included in the travelling party.

Youngsters Jonjo Shelvey, Nathan Eccleston, Martin Hansen, Peter Gulacsi, David Amoo, Lauri Dalla Valle and Tom Ince were also part of the 20-man squad.

Defensive trio Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Sotirios Kyrgiakos are also part of the squad despite being involved in the recent World Cup.
