Reds linked with Chelsea striker

Published: 22 Aug 2011 - 11:00:02

Liverpool may make a move for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge with midfielder Raul Meireles going in the opposite direction. Despite an excellent second half to last season it is thought Meireles will struggle to find a regular place in the Reds midfield following the summer arrival of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam to Anfield so he maybe up for a move if it were to come along.

Boss Kenny Dalglish is looking to add more firepower to his squad as back up to Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll and the highly rated Sturridge could be the man. After a taste of first team action, whilst on loan at Bolton last season, Sturridge is keen to push on but he is unlikely to do that at Chelsea where Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou are ahead of him in the pecking order, so a move to Anfield may well suit him down to the ground.
