Reds to sell to buy

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has revealed he will have to sell players to help fund summer transfer targets.[LNB] Benitez is expected to be busy in the transfer market in the close-season as he looks to strengthen his squad to keep pace with Liverpool's Premier League rivals.[LNB]Liverpool have been linked with a number of players including Aston Villa's Gareth Barry, Valencia striker David Villa and Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson and Benitez admits he will have to trim his squad to enable him to bring in new faces.[LNB]The futures of the likes of Ryan Babel, Andrea Dossena and Sami Hyypia are thought to be under threat and Benitez knows how much money he will have to spend in his transfer kitty.[LNB]"More or less I will have an idea of how much we will have to spend," said Benitez.[LNB]"I think we'd have to sell players to increase the money we'll need, but at the moment we're not talking about names and money.[LNB]Targets"We are working on targets and we will try to do things as quickly and cheaply as possible.[LNB]"Every year it is important to sign good players, the right players. We know we have better players than before and it will be difficult to find better players than we have now.[LNB]"But we are working very hard during the season, looking for and watching players. We will be ready."[LNB]
