Reds to make bid for Lyon striker in 'coming days'

Liverpool look set to make their first big move for an in-form striker according to Le10Sport. The report claims that Brendan Rodgers is ready to make a firm bid for Alexandre Lacazette, who has scored a hugely impressive 23 goals so far this term for Lyon.

The Reds could face competition from PSG, which may well push the price skyward, although it is unclear what figure might hit the spot to persuade Lyon to part with their star man.

The 23-year-old French international has made 127 league appearances for Lyon, the club he joined as a youth in 2003 before making his senior debut in 2010. Lacazette has featured at all youth levels for France, scoring the winning goal in the European under-19 championship in the final against Spain.

Liverpool clearly rate the player who they believe would link up well with Raheem Sterling and Sturridge when he returns to action. The report claims that Rodgers is desperate to add to his strikeforce in January with the summer signing of misfiring Mario Balotelli yet to yield a Premier League goal.

The Reds have been linked with the French hotshot but talk had calmed before the Le10Sport report.
