Reds to deal in defender

Skysports.com understands Liverpool have opened talks with Stephen Darby over a new deal at Anfield.[LNB] Darby is highly-rated within the corridors of Anfield and the club are ready to reward him with a new long-term contract, with his current deal having just over a year to run.[LNB]The full-back has progressed through the Liverpool ranks and was a member of the 2006 and 2007 FA Youth Cup-winning sides.[LNB]Darby made the breakthrough into the first team this season and he has so far made two substitute appearances in the Carling Cup and UEFA Champions League.[LNB]Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is a big admirer of the 20-year-old and is hoping to thrash out a deal with the defender in the near future.[LNB]
