Reds reject Chelsea offer
Liverpool have rejected an offer of £7m and Yossi Benayoun for Raul Meireles from Chelsea. Although Kenny Dalglish is happy to keep Meireles, the player himself is apparently worried about his first team opportunities following the signings of Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson. It was Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas who sold Meireles to Liverpool while he was Porto boss but he is keen to reunite with him as the rent boys' midfield is lacking a creative spark. Chelsea are now expected to return to the Reds with an improved offer. Liverpool aren't adverse to the idea of Benayoun's return either, but only as part of a sensible offer or as a seperate, cheap, signing.
