Reds looking to bounce back
Liverpool are looking to get back to winning ways against Bolton today. After a feeble performance against Wolves on Wednesday night the Reds have a point to prove in today's home game with Bolton Wanderers. "I don't think anyone who played the other night can be happy with their performance, or at least very, very few. It was one of those collective performances where we were under par," said Roy Hodgson. "It was a bad day at the office for us, to quote a cliché. It's a great opportunity now for the players who have found themselves like me in the firing line to prove people wrong. "I was hoping we'd come out firing on all cylinders and flying at Wolves but it was anything but the case and that's a major regret, of course. "Our immediate preoccupation in the next couple of games has got to be to get ourselves into that top half and within touching distance. If we succeed in doing that then maybe the question (of Champions League qualification) becomes relevant. "What we need from the team is the kind of performances I've been seeking. I've seen those performances but I've also seen performances which are way below what we're looking for. "I've got the feeling that we are working in the right way, that we are still continuing to improve with the obvious blips on the way. But it is going to be a matter of time. "Of course the fans are the ones who could help me and the team most of all, and I'm sure they will because that's in their nature. It's also well known that Liverpool fans are at their best when things don't go well. They know things aren't going well at the moment and I think we can count on their full support. "The first thing we've got to do is secure ourselves in the top half of the table and leave the bottom half behind. With two matches in hand, maybe if we'd been able to play those matches we wouldn't be in the bottom half, but we are there. "Everybody is unhappy with the way things have gone in the past couple of weeks. We've lost two matches after a reasonable spell where it looked like we were starting to get our act together. "There is nobody at the club - from owners to staff and players - that is happy with the situation. We're all hurting, we're all very upset with what's going on and we're all determined to try and do our best to put it right. Let's hope that starts against Bolton. "They [the owners] are entitled to be unhappy with the results of the past couple of weeks because they were optimistic when we started to get some good results that we'd keep flying up the table. This has been a major setback and it's up to us now to make certain that the setback stops here."
