Reds held in Swans stalemate

Andy Carroll missed a sitter as Liverpool failed to convert their chances for a second successive home match against a promoted side as they were held to a goalless draw by Swansea.

The £35million club-record signing side-footed against the crossbar from just six yards with the goal at his mercy in only the seventh minute against Swansea.

It set the tone for the rest of the match as, just like against Norwich a fortnight ago, the home side failed to capitalise as the visitors left with a well-earned point.
