Reds go through

Liverpool came through a testing Europa League play-off against Trabzonspor with a late 2-1 win in Turkey which was enough to put them through 3-1 on aggregate. However, it was far from convincing and it needed an own goal and Dirk Kuyt's winner to secure their passage. The Reds' one-goal advantage had been wiped out in the fourth minute when Teofilo Gutierrez side-footed past Jose Reina. The home side's goal came after an error from Kuyt, who gave the ball away to Gustavo Colman and his intended shot fell kindly for Gutierrez who did the rest. Glen Johnson had an effort chalked off for offside for Liverpool, before eight minutes from time, Remzi Kacar put through his own goal as David N'gog's shot hit him. Kuyt then made things safe with a close range tap in.
