Reds draw first friendly

Liverpool drew 0-0 with Grasshoppers last night. It was a youthful Liverpool side that lined up for Roy Hodgson's first game, with the World Cup stars still making their way back to full fitness. Grasshoppers have already started their season, so were more advanced in terms of fitness but the Reds held their own against the Swiss side and carved out a few first half chances through Alberto Aquilani, David Amoo and David Ngog. New signing Jonjo Shelvey made his debut as a subsitute in the second half as Hodgson gave most of the squad a run-out.
