Real consider Defour

Standard Liege chief Dominique D'Onofrio is not surprised to see Steven Defour linked with Real Madrid. Reports in Spain claim that Defour will be targeted by Real, if they fail to land Liverpool star Xabi Alonso. Ironically, Defour is also linked with a switch to Anfield, if Alonso - as expected - departs for Real. D'Onofrio, though, admits he is not shocked by the reports given Defour's standing as one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in world football. But he insisted Standard will not be selling this summer. "We haven't been contacted, but it won't surprise me if Steven is mentioned at Real," D'Onofrio told Het Laatste Nieuws. "Zinedine Zidiane is an advisor of Real and he is following Defour since he gave him the Golden Boot (for best player in Belgium). "We are very proud Steven is wanted in the market. "Defour is ready for a top team, but because of that we won't let him leave. "Defour is part of the backbone of our squad. He is not for sale, we won't talk about a transfer."
