Stockport captain Michael Raynes believes his blossoming talent will develop further now former Liverpool defender Gary Ablett has taken over at Edgeley Park. Ablett, 43, left his post as Liverpool's reserve team manager in May and is believed to have beaten off competition from former Celtic and Northern Ireland midfielder Neil Lennon to land the post. Jim Melrose is heading a consortium which is on the brink of completing a takeover which will bring the Edgeley Park club out of administration. Highly-rated defender Raynes told Press Association Sport: "I think the new manager can help to move the club forward and also be a massive help to me personally. "He played at centre-back at the highest level and I just need to listen and learn from him. "The takeover will bring an end to all the uncertainty and we can really now kick on going into the new season."
