Rafael Benitez keen to tie up Daniel Agger and Dirk Kuyt to new Liverpool deals

Having finally signed a new five-year contract this week, Benitez is keen to tie up Agger and Kuyt, as well as full-backs Alvaro Arbeloa and Fabio Aurelio, whose current deals all expire at the end of next season. [LNB]Kuyt, Arbeloa and Aurelio are likely to waste no time in putting pen to paper and Benitez remains adamant that Agger will also sign despite the Danish centre-back regularly making his frustration public. [LNB]But Benitez, who also has Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia fighting for the two centre-half positions, is sure that the Dane will extend his stay at Anfield after discussions at the end of the week. [LNB]He said: "Agger has been injured. He knows that he's a player that I have a lot of confidence in. My conversation with him was very positive. [LNB]"He knows my ideas and he knows if he's not playing well, he will have problems and if he's injured he can't play but if he's fit he will have the same chance as the others or maybe more."[LNB]Benitez is still unsure how much money he will have to spend this summer and acknowledges that re-signing the quartet, who will all be available on free transfers in the summer of 2010, is vital to the future of his squad. [LNB]He added: "We've already started talking so hopefully it will be done sooner rather than later. If you have to go to the market to sign players of this level, you know you have to spend a lot of money." [LNB]
