Rafa waits on Torres

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has not given hope of Fernando Torresbeing fit enough to feature in Tuesday's vital Champions League encounter with Besiktas at Anfield.

The Spain international limped out of last month's draw with Arsenal after suffering a muscle injury and was thought to be set for a three-week spell on the sidelines.

However Torres, who has started ten games for the Reds since his summer transfer from Atletico Madrid, was able to train with the rest of the squad on Monday.

"He can be in the squad," confirmed Benitez in the build-up to the match against the Turkish side.

"We were checking how fit he was and he could be okay.

"The doctor and the physio says he is okay and the player says he is okay and we will decide on Tuesday."

Liverpool desperately need to beat Besiktas if they are to have any chance of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League after taking only one point from their first three group matches.
