Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has rejected claims that he wants to sign striker Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli.
Earlier in the week, the Argentina striker revealed his interest in joining the Reds following reports that he had been targeted by Benitez.
But Benitez claims he has absolutely no intention of signing the 24-year-old frontman in an £11million deal.
"We never contacted Lavezzi and we have no intention of doing so," said the Spaniard.
"We want to put a stop to these rumours."
Previously Lavezzi's agent had dropped a strong hint that Liverpool were interested in his client.
"There is a very real offer from a team who are playing in the Champions League and where he would earn much more than here," said Alejandro Mazzoni.
