Rafa eyes title push
31 Jan 2007 - 08:27:57
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez still thinks his side has a chance of mounting a title challenge after Tuesday's 2-1 win at West Ham United lifted the Reds to within eight points of leaders Manchester United.
Goals by Dirk Kuyt and Peter Crouch helped to seal Liverpool's fifth successive Premiership victory and Benitez is looking to keep that run going in Saturday's Merseyside derby with Everton.
"It was a great win for us," he said. "We've maintained our winning momentum and need to keep going. We scored two great goals and the second was really good play.
"It was important that we scored first because when they scored we were a little bit nervous.
"We cannot think about the title. We must just keep on winning and, if we do that, then in three or four weeks we might be able to start talking about possibilities. We are on a good run and enjoying it.
"It's great to see that we are close to the top two but we also realise that Chelsea and Manchester United have the quality and experience to manage their situations too.
"We need to carry on kicking on and we must try to stay up there for as long as we possibly can."
