Rafa eyes Kuyt return

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt may be fit to face Blackburn Rovers this weekend despite suffering an ankle injury while on international duty with the Netherlands.

Kuyt had to be substituted after only 16 minutes of the 1-1 draw against Bulgaria last weekend, with the Reds fearing that the Dutchman would be out for at least two weeks with ligament damage.

However, boss Rafa Benitez now hopes that Kuyt will be able to be part of the squad to take on Rovers at Anfield.

He told the club's official website: "Dirk's injury isn't that bad.

"We can't say when he will be able to play, but he returned on Tuesday and had more treatment.

"It would have been better if we'd been able to treat him for another two days straight after his injury, but we will wait and see how he is before deciding when he can play."
