Rafa enjoys Anfield victory
16 Mar 2010 - 08:27:48
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez was pleased with his side's performance in a 4-1 thrashing of rock-bottom Portsmouth at Anfield.
Two goals from Fernando Torres and one apiece from Ryan Babel and Alberto Aquilani - his first for the club - were more than enough to see off Pompey and give the Reds a boost ahead of their Europa League clash with Lille later in the week.
Benitez said after a comprehensive victory: "I think it was a good game. We were trying to play well for the fans and score goals.
"It was an important game in an important week, so we are really pleased.
"We have seen a lot of players playing well and that is good for me because I will have more problems and more of a selection headache.
"Against Lille we showed character. We didn't play fantastic, but we had some chances and could have scored.
"Tonight we played well, the pitch was much better and the players could enjoy playing good football.
"It was really good for Aquilani and really good for the team. He has shown he has quality and he will have more confidence and that is good."
