    Rafa beaming after Reds romp

    29 Mar 2010 - 07:25:20

Rafael Benitez believes Liverpool showed their top four credentials after sweeping Sunderland aside 3-0 at Anfield.

Two goals from Fernando Torres and another from Glen Johnson moved the Reds to within four points of Tottenham in the final Champions League qualifying place.

The Reds have seen their bid for a fourth-placed finish and a lucrative spot in Europe's blue ribbon competition slip away in recent weeks after a string of disappointing results.

However, Benitez believes they have sent out a message to the likes of Spurs and Manchester City at a vital point in the season.

"At this moment the main thing for all of us is to try to play well and win games and we will be closer to the top four," he declared.

"We know we have to keep going. You can see the players have confidence and if we play at this level we will win more games for sure.

"That is the best way for the manager, the staff and players to move forward so we will try.

"We are working behind the scenes to improve things for the future but now it is best to concentrate on football."
