Rafa backs Reds' efforts

Liverpool's Rafa Benitez felt that his side had been hard done by in their 1-0 defeat at champions Chelsea, as the Reds continued their struggles away from home.

Benitez has seen his side collect just one point from three games on the road in the league this term, but feels that they should have been rewarded for their efforts at Stamford Bridge.

He said: "We deserved more. We created some clear chances against a good team.

"They had ten men but they have experience and they can keep the ball.

"If you analyse the statistics we have created more attempts than the home teams in these three games.

"We conceded on this occasion because Didier Drogba is a good player, not because we made mistakes.

"It's clear we are improving and we need to get points, but it is the beginning of the season."
