Rafa wants Magpies repeat

Rafa Benitez has urged his side to replicate their performance at St James' Park earlier in the season when Newcastle visit on Sunday. The Liverpool boss described the performance back in December as 'nearly perfect' as the Reds ran out 5-1 winners. Captain Steven Gerrard helped himself to two goals that day and Benitez could be boosted by the midfielder's return following a four-game absence with a groin injury. But with Newcastle now under the leadership of Alan Shearer the Spaniard is expecting a tougher test and with the Magpies three points from safety Benitez expects the visitors to come and attack. "We were really good that day. We were in control, we had a lot of chances and their goalkeeper was man of the match," he said. "It was nearly the perfect game for us. "It will be different this time because they have a different manager and are in a different situation. "And clearly they need to win, so I don't think they will be waiting and waiting for a draw. They have quality players in attack." Liverpool could start the game six points behind leaders Manchester United if the champions beat Middlesbrough away on Saturday but Benitez is only focusing on his side. "We just need to keep doing our job and we have the confidence to keep winning games," he added. "If Manchester United make a mistake then we have to be ready, so we must take three points from each game and then see what happens. "We will not give up until the end."
