iverpool manager Rafa Benitez insists that he was unaware of the speculation regarding his future leading up to kick-off at the Bernabeu.[LNB] A number of leading bookmakers in England had stopped taking bets on the Spaniard being the next manager to leave his post causing many to believe he was on his way out of Anfield.[LNB]It is no secret that the former Valencia man's relationship with co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett has gone through difficult times and Benitez's reluctance to sign a new contract has done nothing to quell the rumours.[LNB]But any worries that the speculation about their manager's future had reached the pitch were put to bed as Liverpool secured a vital away win at Real Madrid on Wednesday.[LNB]Unaware"I didn't know. I was talking with my friends here in Spain but I was just concentrating on the game so I didn't know," Benitez insisted to Sky Sports 2.[LNB]But the Spaniard refused to state that he would be signing a new deal in the near future to put an end to the ongoing speculation.[LNB]"Clearly I was thinking about the game. I will try to win all the games with Liverpool," he added.[LNB]"I say before we have important games so we are going to concentrate on these games.[LNB]"Today we were in contact with them (the board over a new contract) so we will see."[LNB]
