Rafael Benitez was left ruing costly mistakes yesterday. Benitez said yesterday's 2-0 defeat by Chelsea summed up the Reds' season with silly mistakes contributing to our own downfall. "We approached the game trying to win. We are disappointed because it was an equal match, but then we conceded the goal and then it changed. We had to win and go forward and with the pace they have up front it was difficult for us," he said. "After that we had a problem with Carra and Maxi has been the same all through the season with problems on the pitch. Then we conceded the second goal and normally that is the end against a side like Chelsea. "Chelsea are a good team. They were at the top and a number of points ahead. They lost some points recently but they showed good character and scored seven goals against a good Stoke team. They are in this position and I do not know if they will finish top, but they are a good team."
