Rafa reveals Silva approach

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has revealed he made an enquiry about the availability of Valencia star David Silva. The Reds boss stated on Friday that the Spain international was not his top summer target in order to quash rumours regarding a possible big-money move. Benitez has been credited with a long-term interest in the 23-year-old as he looks to add offensive options to his Anfield squad. And Benitez has now admitted that he did contact cash-strapped Valencia regarding Silva, but his tentative approach for the attack-minded midfielder will not be continued. He said in the Liverpool Echo: "It is true that we were asking about the situation with him [Silva]. "But we are not happy with the situation now and he will not be a target for us."
