Rafa has Reds on right track

Rafa Benitez believes his Liverpool side are displaying all the characteristics of potential Premier League champions.[LNB] Unfortunately for the Anfield outfit it may be too late for them to prevail in this season's title race.[LNB]A 4-4 draw with Arsenal on Tuesday encapsulated the finer points of the English top-flight, with both teams giving a thrilling demonstration of attacking football, but saw the Reds open the door to rivals Manchester United.[LNB]That performance was by no means a one-off for the hosts, as they have been red-hot in front of goal of late, but once again they allowed vital points to slip away in a game they really should have won.[LNB]Benitez is refusing to concern himself with that fact at present, though, preferring to focus on the positives that can be taken from a run of results which has seen his side dash any suggestion that they favour a cautious approach to generating results.[LNB]"There is not really [a change of emphasis]. The understanding between the players is better," said the Spanish coach.[LNB]"This week we were talking in training sessions and we could see the team were playing with a lot of confidence.[LNB]"We didn't need to say anything because they knew what to do.[LNB]"Because we have been practising so many times during the season the players know now what to do.[LNB]"For me we have the same mentality, the difference now is we play better. We have more confidence and we can score more goals."[LNB]AnxietyWhile little criticism can be levelled at Liverpool's attacking unit at present, a leaky defence has given cause for concern.[LNB]Benitez accepts as much and is keen to see any issues ironed out as the club look to bring to an end their 19-year wait for a top-flight title.[LNB]"Sometimes you play with a bit of anxiety and you make mistakes," he said.[LNB]"It is something we have to manage if we want to keep going until the end of the season.[LNB]"We showed against Arsenal we are a good team with a good mentality and great character but also I think we have to improve.[LNB]"It is difficult to know where the title challenge lies because you never know what will happen in the next game.[LNB]"We know we have to keep going in every single game and see what happens at the end."[LNB]
