Fernando Torres apparently did not want Rafael Benitez to leave Liverpool but admits his fellow Spaniard's departure was "best for everyone".[LNB] Benitez was the man who brought Torres to Merseyside for a £20million fee in the summer of 2007.[LNB]And the former Atletico Madrid striker was a central figure as the Reds pushed Manchester United all the way in the Premier League title race in 2008-9.[LNB]But last season was a major letdown for the Anfield giants, and it ended with Benitez departing to take over newly-crowned European champions Inter Milan.[LNB]Torres, whose future has also been the subject of much speculation this summer, is quoted in the Liverpool Echo as saying: "At this time I believe it was best for everyone. He won everything and last year they demanded too much from him."[LNB]El Nino has been linked with most of Europe's big guns, with big-spending Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona reportedly leading the race to sign him.[LNB]But he is currently just waiting to find out who will replace Benitez in the Anfield hotseat - Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is the hot favourite.[LNB]"They will tell us the situation after the World Cup," Torres added. "At the moment we don't have a coach."
