Rafa delight at away win

iverpool boss Rafa Benitez hailed his side's work ethic after he watched them win 1-0 over Real Madrid in the Bernabeu.[LNB] A Yossi Benayoun header on 82 minutes secured the victory and made sure that the Merseysiders would be taking a valuable away goal back to Anfield.[LNB]Real never really threatened the Liverpool backline as the visitors looked to keep things tight and not give anything away.[LNB]As the game wore on Real's level of performance dipped and Liverpool took full advantage when Benayoun nodded home unmarked from a Fabio Aurelio free-kick.[LNB]"We knew it would be very difficult. They were confident, we had to work very hard," Benitez told Sky Sports 2.[LNB]"We had some good chances in the end with the free-kick we scored from a very good goal without (Steven) Gerrard and (Fernando) Torres in the second half."[LNB]The Spanish striker was withdrawn on the hour mark after visibly suffering from an ankle injury he picked up in the first half and the former Valencia boss explained that his withdrawal was a precaution.[LNB]Set-back"It was his ankle. It was in the first minute so we waited but you could see he was not fully fit and he could be a risk for the next few games," he added.[LNB]Benitez also pointed out that the result was all the more impressive given Real's recent home form.[LNB]Juande Ramos' side hammered Real Betis for six at the weekend at the Bernabeu but any hopes of a repeat against Liverpool were well and truly stifled early on.[LNB]"In Europe it was important for us not to concede but especially here because they were scoring some goals," he highlighted.[LNB]"So I was very pleased with the team work and also going forward we were trying to score so in the end 1-0 is a very good result."[LNB]
