Rafa confident over Gerrard

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is confident Steven Gerrard can recover from his groin injury to play his part in the title run-in. The 28-year-old sat out of the enthralling 4-4 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday after feeling the injury in training the day before. The result meant that Liverpool were knocked out 7-5 on aggregate in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash but the Reds coped well without their talismanic skipper. The England international was expected to be passed fit but Benitez insists that the risk was not worth taking as the club look to concentrate on challenging Manchester United for their Premier League crown. "He felt something, so he was unavailable," he said. "We thought he could be okay but in the end he felt something. It was an easy decision because he could not play. "To lose a key player is always important and especially a player like Gerrard but credit to the other players because they did a fantastic job. "It is not serious and we felt he could be available but he wasn't. Hopefully it will be okay."
