Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez urges his side to learn lessons from last season's defeat at Spurs and start season with a win LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez has urged his players to learn from last season's league defeat at Tottenham and get their campaign off to a flying start tomorrow. The Reds paid the price for a glut of missed chances at White Hart Lane last November when Roman Pavlyuchenko's late strike inflicted a crushing 2-1 reverse. Benitez is demanding a ruthless streak as his side look to set the pace at the top of the Premier League. 'I remember the game at Tottenham very well and it was maybe one of our best away performances last season,' he said. 'We lost but the face of Harry Redknapp at the end of the game said it all for me. 'It was a pity because it was a very good game, but you must learn from matches like this. 'When you have chances you have to finish teams off. 'Maybe if there is something we can improve on this season it is to be more clinical.'
