Rafa Benitez to nurse returning Liverpool FC star Fernando Torres back to form

Fernando Torres 300[LNB]RAFA BENITEZ will avoid the temptation of handing Fernando Torres an instant recall to Liverpool's starting line-up as he nurses the striker back to full fitness.[LNB]The Reds' leading scorer made his first appearance since January 13 in Sunday's 0-0 draw with Manchester City when coming on as a substitute for the final 15 minutes.[LNB]With Liverpool's attacking options desperately in need of a boost, the return of Torres could not be better timed and he will travel with the squad to Bucharest tomorrow for the clash with Unirea Urziceni.[LNB]However, Benitez will resist the temptation to pitch Torres straight back in, as he is still some way from peak condition - and his manager cannot run the risk of him suffering a breakdown as 'he is not ready' yet.[LNB]That's why Torres will again have to settle for a place on the bench, as Liverpool - who are protecting a one-goal first leg advantage - look to secure a place in the last 16.[LNB]Should they do that, Liverpool would find either Lille or Fenerbahce standing in their way of the quarter-finals and, inevitably, thoughts would start turning to the final in Hamburg.[LNB]Benitez led Valencia to success in what was then the UEFA Cup in 2004, while Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are the only survivors of the last Liverpool team to win the trophy in 2001.[LNB]He would love nothing more than to lead the Reds to success on May 12 and hopes a win in Romania can give them a renewed impetus.
