Rafa Benitez insists he has no World Cup fear for Liverpool skipper Gerrard

Rafa Benitez moved to allay fears over Steven Gerrard's World Cup prospects as he prepared to restore the England midfielder to Liverpool's starting line-up at Wolves on Tuesday night.[LNB]Though Gerrard has shaken off the hamstring strain that has kept him out for the past fortnight, there have been suggestions he may need another injection to cope with a nagging groin problem.[LNB] Back in business: Steven Gerrard is set to return from injury on Tuesday night[LNB]Benitez insisted they were unfounded but conceded that he faced a difficult balancing act between safeguarding Gerrard's fitness for South Africa and making use of his inspirational qualities in the closing months of this season.[LNB]'Sometimes a player is available but not fully fit, but he still has to play because he is so important to the team,' he said. 'That has occasionally happened with Steven when he has returned from international duty. But I have no concerns over him.[LNB]'I was surprised by stories about an injection because we have not prepared anything like that. It is not easy when you are playing midweek and weekends but if he can get a spell now where he can train all week without a game, it will be much better for him.'[LNB]Benitez is waiting for an answer from Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic after offering him a three-year deal to join Liverpool on a free transfer at the end of the season. [LNB]Benitez will have to wheel and deal for the foreseeable future, despite co-owner Tom Hicks selling his Texas Rangers baseball team for around £310million yesterday.
